What is a Sever?

·    First thing to note is server is not a physical machine or computer.

·   While almost any computer that meets the minimum hardware requirements can run a server operating system that alone does not make a desktop computer a true server.

·  A desktop computer system typically runs a user-friendly operating system and desktop applications to facilitate desktop-oriented tasks.

·  Servers are often dedicated means it performs no other task besides server tasks.

·  Server Hardware: - server hardware is depends on following factors given below:

o Processor: - we have to choose processor which will boost performance and data throughput.

o  Form Factor: - we have to choose it as tower server (A tower server is a computer that is built in an upright cabinet that stands alone and that is designed to function as a server. The cabinet is known as a tower, and multiple tower servers can work simultaneously for different tasks and processes.).

o  Memory: - Memory refers to the location of short-term data. You can buy as much you require.

o   Storage: - you must know how much data we will need as per that considering future need we has to decide memory for server machine. Look for SATA or SCSI hard disks, not IDE.

·      Server Operating System: - 

o  Server operating system is a platform on top of which various programs will run.

o  For basic file servers a small business should choose an operating system that staff will be the most comfortable with.

·      There are 2 Types of Server: -

o  Web Server

o  Application Server
